Corona has been the most troublesome situation for labours. Due to the lock-down, a large number of labourers were stuck in different states of the country. The labours had to measure the thousands of kilometres because of the unavailability of food and resources.â €
The role that governments had to play in such a situation was not positive in the way that millions of workers had to leave their homes and walk miles. In such a situation, the media discharged its positive role and not only put the pain of these labourers in front of the general public but also made the government realise where the mistakes are happening. As a result of this, not only in Chhattisgarh but also in other states of the country, the governments took the initiative to bring labourers to their homes.
If we talk about the capital Raipur in Chhattisgarh, the Tatibandh is an area where millions of Workers entered and the media played their part in this period. Our journalist colleagues took the opportunity to write about the workers in their newspapers and also the labourers were given a place on social media too as well as broadcast media. As a result, the central governments fiercely worked on the pathetic condition of labourers and tried to make a better system. As a result not only did the government and social organizations provide food to the labourers but also arranged buses and other vehicles to reach their homes. I feel that the social organisations of government should work with greater sensitivity for the interests of the workers.â €

The media may have played its role but this role should always remain till the last person of the society to whom governments do not pay attention to the last. If we put the agony of the person through our media, then similar pleasant results can come out but still, there is always room for better.â €
