Chief Minister Raman Singh on Tuesday inaugurated ‘lion Safari’ at the Jungle Safari Naya Raipur on World Forestry Day.
It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Jungle Safari on November 1, 2016.
Jungle Safari is Chhattisgarh’s first and largest man-made Jungle Safari at Naya Raipur.
Nandanvan Zoo and Safari, the area extends to 800 acres of land. Wild animals will be seen moving freely in their respective zones where visitors can watch them through solar vehicles. Zones have been divided into herbivore safari, tiger safari, bear safari, and lion safari along with zoos for other animals. The herbivore zone will include animals like cheetal, black buck, and sambar deer among 50 animals across an area of 30 hectares. Bear zone will have four bears on 20 hectares, tiger zone will have three tigers on the area of 20 hectares and lion safari will have 6-8 lions. About 10,000 people can be accommodated here at a time
The Chief Minister said that Jungle Safari had become a star attraction of not only Chhattisgarh citizens but also the entire country.
Chief Minister’s wife Veena Singh, Forest Minister Mahesh Gagda, Parliamentary Secretary Champadevi Pawle, MLA Ashok Sahu and Naveen Markandeya, and several other senior officers were also present.
Herbivore Safari had been built on 75 acres of the plot. The boating facility will be operational on Khandwa Reservoir in Jungle Safari soon. About one lakh fifty thousand visitors had visited the Jungle Safari to date. There are nine crocodiles in Crocodile Park.
It is fascinating to watch the animals of many species roam around in the jungle surroundings and to even get a chance to see many animals that are either on the brink of extinction or not so popular. The best thing about his place is that the authorities have kept in mind not just the comfort of the visitors but have also made it extremely affordable.
