Badamwari Garden : The symbol of Spring in Srinagar, re-opens.

The famous Badamwari Garden in Srinagar re-opens its gates for visitors. It marks the arrival of Spring at this historic Garden in the foothills of Koh-e-Maran, Srinagar.

It has cultural, traditional and heritage importance as popular religious places including Hazrat Makhdoom Sahib shrine and Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi are also in the same area.

The Garden is open Since March 21.

The tourism department organized an opening ceremony with cultural activities including traditional folk songs and group dance known as “RAUFF”.

For the locals of Srinagar, Badamwari is a symbol of Spring. It is the first almond blossom that blooms in Kashmir.

The garden will remain open for the visitors till the blossom last.

The Garden existed before the 14th-century ruler, Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin This garden boasts streams and fountains enhancing the beauty of this 300 canals park, ideal for family picnics or enjoying the beauty of nature.

There is also a dome-shaped structure, after Warris Shah, an Afghan Ruler.

Now beautifully landscaped the garden has vividly colored flowers in every corner, an open amphitheater for cultural programs.

A restored well, meandering red brick pathways, a small pond, and a dome to commemorate the old ruler, awareness about this garden is slowly growing.

Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, this Garden was closed the previous year despite almond bloom.
