Shri Kedarnath is the eleventh Jyotirlinga, out of the twelve Jyotirlinga of India. Aadi Guru Shankaracharya established it . Kedarnath is a holy Hindu town located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand in India.
The opening date and time of Kedarnath Temple are dependent on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritya. They declared on the Maha Shiva Ratri. The priests in Ukhimath’s Omkareshwar Temple decide the date of opening of the Kedarnath shrine . It is based on the calculation of Panchang.
According to the calculations, the doors of the holy temple will be on 06 May 2022 in the morning with a special Pooja in the temple. The closing date of the temple is fixed on the day 26 Oct (i.e., the day after Diwali).
Before visiting, keep these things in mind –
- The yatra will commence after a general permit.
- Medical centers at Guptkashi and Sonaprayag will conduct the required fitness check.
- The authorities will check your blood pressure and symptoms for other diseases in the past.
- A medical certificate will be issued in your name if you are fit to go further
On Monday, 9th May, the Uttarakhand chief minister started free health services. It was provided by a private health organization. It is specially for devotees on the Char Dham Yatra route. The services are to ensure a “safe and comfortable yatra” for people, according to the state government.
The Route of Kedarnath Temple
The most popular route to Kedarnath is as follows:
“Haridwar – Rishikesh – Devprayag – Rudraprayag – Agastamuni – Kund – Guptkashi – Phata – Rampur – Sonprayag – Gaurikund – Trek to Kedarnath. The trek to Kedarnath starts from Gaurikund.”
To reach Gaurikund you can use your vehicle, or public transport, which are all readily available. The trek from Gaurikund is truly enjoyable. Some staunch devotees start their trek from Haridwar itself.
