As a country we thrive on Bollywood and look up to the stories on 70mm for drawing inspiration in real lives. Be it romance, action, humor, drama or any other slice of life, many of us fail to realize that the best stories come from the people amongst us: the people we walk past on the streets without looking at twice or the people we see almost every day but don’t take the chance to get to know. So I chanced upon meeting one such beautiful young couple in the city accidentally whose love story brewed and took shape in the “City of Dreams” itself.
Meet Nayan (25) and Chaitali (26) whose love story started back in 2011, courtesy Facebook. What was interesting about their story was that they belonged to the same community, both of them hailed from Chhattisgarh and you cannot imagine this one- they both studied from the same school. This is unbelievable!! (Coincidences do happen in real life!!). They were the alumni of Yugantar Public School, Rajnandgaon, but not from the same batch.
Back then Nayan was pursuing his B.Com at Thakur Collge, Mumbai and Chaitali was doing an undergraduate course at the School Of Fashion Technology in Pune. Nayan’s hometown is Raigarh whereas Chaitali is from Raipur itself. So when Nayan once came to Raigarh enroute Raipur, Chaitali surprised him by receiving him at the airport and gave him a ride up to the outskirts of the city, where his car was waiting for him. This was their first imprompt date back on 18th July 2011, where Nayan was floored by Chaitali’s charm.
Next month on 7th August on the occasion of Friendship Day, followed by 8th August which was Nayan’s 19th birthday; Chaitali sent him some choicest gifts and finally on 9th August Nayan proposed Chaitali and their friendship consummated into a relationship.
It was a long distance relationship and as every dating couple they longed to spend more time with each other. So after graduation, Chaitali also shifted to Mumbai in 2012. Nayan was living in Boriwalli West, while Chaitali moved to Andheri East.
In 2013, after Nayan’s graduation both decided to pursue their Masters together at London. Chaitali got admission at Central Saint Martin’s, which is a reputed College for art and design and Nayan got admission in Strathaclyde Business School, a noted Glasgow based B-school. But Nayan could not join there as his parents were apprehensive and reluctant of their son leaving India. Due to this Chaitali also made the sacrifice and dropped the idea of joining one top flight fashion designing institute.
After graduation, Chaitali helped Nayan in choosing his higher studies and did his career counseling. She always stood as a mentor by his side. So, Nayan got into Hotel Management and joined ITM-IHM, Oshiwara at her behest. Similarly, Chaitali got through National Institute of Fashion Technology, Mumbai for Masters Diploma course in Costume Designing. Chaitali even worked as an Asst. Costume Designer in the movies starring Tiger Shroff; Heropanti and Baaghi.
Both Nayan and Chaitali are consumed by wanderlust. During one such trip to Khandala, Nayan in typical Bollywood style bent down on one knee and proposed the love of his life- Chaitali to marry him, circa late 2014. Chaitali was floored incessantly, and affirmatively asserted to the proposal, without much ado.
After completing their respective courses, they got engaged in July 2016 and relocated to Raipur. Nayan joined ITM University as a Visiting Lecturer, while Chaitali joined Space Institute of Design & Innovation in Raipur. Their marriage was consummated in December 2016.
Recently in June, they came up with a start up of their own, to blend in their common interests and pursue where their heart lies. So they opened this café cum boutique, which is the first of its kind in Raipur and goes by the Initials NC- the Boutique Café. Located at Samta Colony, it’s a really chilled out spot with great stylized interiors. An ideal place to hang out with your friends, colleagues, family or your special someone. Along with an array of wide range of beverages, snacks and eateries, you get to shop and customize your dresses crafted by Chaitali.
I personally loved the place and the warmth, love and friendliness exuded by this lovely young couple. I would definitely recommend you to give it a try too.
