The Overlooked Maharashtra Village That Gave Birth to India’s popular Candies. Seth Walchand Hirachand Doshi began Ravalgaon confectioneries (Pan Pasand, Mango Mood, and more) after he brought a sugarcane revolution to Maharashtra’s barren lands and started one of the first sugar factories in India
Do you Remember Pan Pasand candy?
The paan-flavored mouth freshener candy that left a red stain on our tongues?
Eating that candy made us feel like grown-ups as kids are not supposed to have a pan.
Even Mango Mood, covered in shiny yellow and green wrapper, hit differently as we could enjoy the taste of mango all around the year.
“Before wrappers, confectioneries were normally put in glass containers in Kirana stores.
So the foundation of chocolate wrappers became a development point. As of now, consumers were not able to see what’s inside the wrapper.
But we wanted our customers to trust us so that transparent wrappers kept our transparency and also made it easy for children to recognize our candy through color and its peculiar texture,” explains Nihal.
The wrapper of the candies has changed over the years. They have always maintained consistency in terms of taste, smell, and visuals. This is probably the reason why the company continues to attract its consumers despite plenty of opponents.
Other products include everyone’s favorite Pan Pasand, Mango Mood, Tutty Fruity. Assorted Centre (orange, raspberry, lemon, and pineapple-jelly centered), Coffee Break, Supreme Toffee (rose, cardamom, and vanilla), Chococream.
