Trupti, a food stylist, based in India, keeps traveling for her work in different parts of India especially Mumbai, with a passion for creating visually appealing food presentations. Brought up by her mom, single-handedly, since she lost her father at a very early age. Her mom, absolutely progressive and a strong-headed woman, always guided and encouraged Trupti to pursue her dreams.
Trupti had done her culinary bachelor’s degree from a renowned school in Mumbai. She also had a 5-star kitchen experience, which greatly helped her in her food styling career. She learned a lot of plating and a lot of food preparation. It provided her with a new perspective on food.
In an interview with ‘Reincarnating Raipur’, Trupti shares her journey and experiences with us. When asked about her initial days, she said, “I started food styling about two decades ago, when food styling was an alien term. With my mom’s support, I carved my path in this accurate kind of field. I have been grateful for my family’s backing. And I hope this inspires others to fearlessly follow their passion and excel in their chosen fields, breaking barriers along the way”.
Sharing her thoughts on her career choice, she said, “The world of food styling always offers plentiful opportunities, to work in a broad spectrum of food-related projects. For me, it was not just a profession but a path to independence, which made it even more alluring, you know, even financially. Food styling allows me to follow my passion. It reinforces my belief that one dream can lead to both personal fulfillment and professional success, thus I thought to come up with my brand; Trupti Food Styling”.
“Food styling is just not about making food look good. It is a form of storytelling that celebrates culture, flavors, and creativity in the culinary world. So, maybe next time you enjoy a beautifully presented dish or a billboard that you see, take a moment to appreciate the skill and the creativity of a food stylist behind it”, she adds.
Speaking about her achievements, she told us, “It’s endless. I am a person who practices gratitude a lot. So being able to wake up every single day and have another day itself is a big deal and achievement for me. But having said that, in my career, I can say I am proud of myself. I have worked with renowned celebrity chefs and restaurants. I have been featured in prestigious magazines and online platforms like Your Stubbly. Also worked on various projects, including movies such as Gehraiya. Apart from that, worked for many TV commercials, and digital videos. And now, I’ve also started a little small production house of my own”.
But every successful story comes with challenges, and Trupti had not just faced them but also overcame all of them. “As a food stylist, I have encountered multiple challenges, such as staying updated with the latest trends, constantly innovating to bring fresh ideas to the table, and managing time and meetings. I love to overcome these hurdles through continuous research, experimenting with new techniques, and maintaining effective time management and organization. But I enjoyed my challenges, I don’t have any complaints”.
Speaking about her life lessons, she shared with us, “In my journey, I’ve learned that passion, perseverance, and attention to detail are essential qualities for success in any creative field. It’s crucial to stay curious and constantly seek inspiration from various sources, whether it will be nature, art, or cultural traditions”.
Is there any trick or shortcut that brought her success? She laughed and said, “A big no, If you’re looking forward to achieving success in your life, you have to work hard, anyhow. There is no shortcut, and it has to team up with honesty and loyalty”.
Coming so long in her journey, she has some advice for beginners, she said, “If you’re focusing on building a strong career, you must keep focus and make your foundation strong. Practice is key, so keep experimenting with different food arrangements, props, & lighting. Keep experimenting with different kinds of plating. Additionally, I would say networking and collaborating with photographers, chefs, and other professionals in the food industry helps. And most importantly, keep trying. There’s no success without hard work”.
