Dental Care tips by Dr. Ananya Mishra- Shashwat Hospital

Today, we are facing a global pandemic crisis and every one is hit by it equally. Though the government has given some relaxation on restarting the business and work, still many of us are feeling scared to step out. Especially the Dentists. As we have to work in close proximity with the patient, with all the precautions taken still there are high chances of us getting infection by this airborne virus. And as a precaution, we all had agreed on restricting our practice to only emergency patients, mostly with unbearable pain or trauma…All other elective and less important treatment are postponed till a proper cure of this virus has been identified.
It’s a difficult condition for patients, who are at discomfort due to mild or moderate toothache or other oral problems… So, here are few tips:-

1) If your crown or bridge has come out:- Don’t worry, as most of the teeth with crown are RCT treated, it’s less likely to get reinfected. So, plz keep your crown or bridge safe, wrapped in cotton or tissue paper.. and avoid biting any hard food from the uncrowned area.

2) If you have:- Start Rinsing and gargling with warm Saline ( salt water).
Take normal Paracetamol if pain increases. Take the medication only when needed. If you have swelling in the affected area, Antibiotics might be needed. U can always call your dentist or send a picture of swelling on whatsapp for online consultation.

3) If you have bleeding gums, again warm Saline gargle and any Gum paint, and be applied locally. But remember, it’s just a symptomatic treatment, you need to get a scaling done, ASAP after lockdown is over.

4) Oral Ulcer:- You can always apply antiulcer gel or mucopain gel( local anaesthetic) 10 minutes before meal, to avoid irrational eating.
