“Now that the world has kind of stopped working, everyone around has turned to streaming services, YouTube and other video based platforms for keeping their sanity intact. If you want to start making videos of your own, here are a few tips you can follow to make sure that the video quality is good and consistent.
.
.
1. Audio is King – It’s a generally accepted fact that people can watch a video with bad video quality but never with bad audio quality. Use earphones that come with their own microphones and use it to record your voice. Make sure that you are sitting in a quiet space in your house. .
.
2. Know your medium – There are so many video platforms out there that it’s tough to choose one to post your videos on. Your medium also decides if you should be making your videos in landscape or portrait mode.
.
.
3. No white walls – Here is a secret tip that filmmakers use. When trying to make a video with a person talking into the camera or something like that, try to avoid shooting against white walls. As pretty and elegant they are in terms of interior design, white walls look pretty boring on camera. And if you have nothing but white walls to shoot against then you could add some flavor to it by covering it up with posters, bookshelves etc.
.
.
4. Foreground -Subject – Background – Another basic of shooting a video is knowing what makes a frame. A frame is composed of three things: Foreground (whatever is in front of the subject), Subject (the person or object that is the focus of your video) and Background (whatever is behind the subject). If while shooting, you can create a set up which includes all the aforementioned three, then your home video would start to look a little more professional.”
