Talks by ishaan Bhatnagar: National Badminton Player

All I want to say is focus on the thing you are passionate about, dedicate maximum hours to it, strategies things and make a game plan to win it.

We all started playing badminton at a very small age, during childhood time I guess, and gradually by playing it with friends I started gaining more interest in badminton, and that is how it all started. Not being good at studies is not at all an excuse for not doing anything, as I was an average student in studies and even though my school and my parents supported me at all ups and downs. I skipped classes and used to sit in exams only and focused on badminton as my priority. It was a dream to be a national champion and I made that dream come true by winning 2 golds in under 19 boys’ doubles and mixed doubles I was India no.1 in mix doubles and boys doubles and world no. 18 in mix doubles and world no. 30 in doubles.
.
I would like to describe my game as a skillful game I follow the game style of Kevin Sanjaya and I see him as my idol. I think I have good skills and I am strong in the net and I need to improve my backcourt (backcourt as in smashes and my power).
.
In Badminton, we don’t have any rivals, although every game opponent becomes a rival during that particular match and that’s what motivates me to give my best.
During the situations when an opponent suddenly starts playing opposite to his strengths I just make myself calm and focus on one point and I just motivate myself that I can do it.
.
The tip to people when the rally is going on for a long time, then prefer playing safe on the court so that the opponents get under pressure and make mistakes themselves.
.
All I want to say is focus on the thing you are passionate about, dedicate maximum hours to it, strategies things and make a game plan to win it.
