A guidance on how to make a crucial choice for better future – By @nup187 “Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions one will make in their life. At a tender age of 18-19, when students don’t have the world view of things and the market, it is very difficult to understand what they are good at and what does it mean to have a successful career. Taking up a career is very common in everybody’s life, but picking the right career is what makes one’s life successful. More often than not they are advised by their guardians to do what most students do or are doing after their high school. This may also prove wrong in the long run.
Being in any field for years just to be miserable and realize that they are in the wrong industry all together can be very devastating. Not everybody has the opportunity to switch careers later on.
Allowing students to be able to make this choice for themselves, means empowering them. Counseling them to better judge the decisions they make at an early age.
The right career choice will lead to much greater heights in terms of happiness and success, whereas getting stuck in a wrong job will lead to frustration and problems not only in professional life, but also in personal life.
Playing an important role at work is much more satisfying than a handsome paycheck where you don’t contribute much. The new generation of youths is no longer stuck with the 9-5 job bracket, instead, they are looking for something meaningful and will also provide work-life balance. They strive to do work that is engaging, work that draws them in, holds their attention and gives them a sense of flow.
Career planning is a process of,
1. Thinking about one’s passions, interests, values, skills, and preferences;
2. Exploring the life, work and learning options available;
3. Ensuring that professional life fits with personal circumstances;
4.Continuously fine-tuning work and learning plans to help manage the changes in life and the world of work.
At Raasta, we aim to help students make better and informed decisions for their careers and provide answers to all their questions.” For more info on career counseling you can reach out at @nup187
